So, my g/f picked up a book she thought I may be interested in, second-hand (and gladly only 10p) while visiting her father in hospital titled "The Bin Ladens" by Steve Coll. So I thoughts I'd look for some reviews to find what the content actually is like, and came up with this article from the NY Times.
Right away I recognised the picture, but was shocked to read the caption:
![Read Article: Osama, in Sweden in 1971, or elsewhere? [Media Lies] | History | Truth Forum](http://img861.imageshack.us/img861/3291/ladenspan1.jpg)

"Members of the bin Laden family vacation in Sweden in 1971. Osama bin Laden did not make the trip."
Right away I recognised the picture from one in my collection, so I found it, titled "youngosamabinladeninsweden.jpg":
Of course right away I knew something was up, but now it was like, "huh?". I simply presumed the picture I had was an error, so searched "Osama Bin Laden Sweden 1971", and came up with this Guardian article containing the following photo and caption:

"Osama bin Laden in Sweden in 1971, second from right."
Just as my friend (user WeGreeman) pointed out, it is almost as if TPTB think the US need to hear that Osama would have been off doing "evil" things, rather than be able to relate to him from a family holiday snap.
Of course it's only a minor part of the plot, but it does make one wonder, was he in Sweden in 1971 or was he not?
